Sunan Abu Dawood 4958 - General Behavior (Kitab Al-Adab)

حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ الْمُعْتَمِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ رَبِيعِ بْنِ عُمَيْلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تُسَمِّيَنَّ غُلَامَكَ يَسَارًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا رَبَاحًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا نَجِيحًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا أَفْلَحَ فَإِنَّكَ تَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَثَمَّ هُوَ ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّمَا هُنَّ أَرْبَعٌ فَلَا تَزِيدَنَّ عَلَيَّ .

Urdu Translation

سمرہ بن جندب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم اپنے بچے یا اپنے غلام کا نام یسار، رباح، نجیح اور افلح ہرگز نہ رکھو، اس لیے کہ تم پوچھو گے: کیا وہاں ہے وہ؟ تو جواب دینے والا کہے گا: نہیں ( تو تم اسے بدفالی سمجھ کر اچھا نہ سمجھو گے ) ( سمرہ نے کہا ) یہ تو بس چار ہیں اور تم اس سے زیادہ مجھ سے نہ نقل کرنا۔

English Translation

Samurah bin Jundub reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Do not call your servant Yasar (wealth), Rabah (profit), Nijih (prosperous) and Aflah (successful), for you may ask; Is he there? And someone says: No. Samurah said: These are four (names), so do not attribute more to me.
