حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَوْ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لِأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ:‏‏‏‏ مَا سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ فِي زَعَمُوا،‏‏‏‏ قال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ بِئْسَ مَطِيَّةُ الرَّجُلِ زَعَمُوا ،‏‏‏‏ قال أبو داود:‏‏‏‏ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حُذَيْفَةُ.

Urdu Translation

ابومسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے ابوعبداللہ (حذیفہ) رضی اللہ عنہ سے یا ابوعبداللہ نے ابومسعود سے کہا   نے «زعموا» کے سلسلے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو کیا فرماتے سنا؟ وہ بولے: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا: «زعموا» ( لوگوں نے گمان کیا ) آدمی کی بہت بری سواری ہے ۱؎۔

English Translation

Abu Masud asked Abu Abu Allah, or Abu Abdullah asked Abu Masud; what did you hear the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say about za’ama (they alleged, asserted, or it is said). He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: it is a bad riding-beast for a man (to say) za’ama (they asserted). Abu DAwud said: This Abu Abdullah is Hudhaifah.
