حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَلِّمْنِي سُنَّةَ الْأَذَانِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَمَسَحَ مُقَدَّمَ رَأْسِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَرْفَعُ بِهَا صَوْتَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ تَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَخْفِضُ بِهَا صَوْتَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ تَرْفَعُ صَوْتَكَ بِالشَّهَادَةِ:‏‏‏‏ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَاةُ الصُّبْحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتَ:‏‏‏‏ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ .

Urdu Translation

ابومحذورہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! آپ مجھے اذان کا طریقہ سکھا دیجئیے، تو آپ نے میرے سر کے اگلے حصہ پر ( ہاتھ ) پھیرا اور فرمایا: کہو: «الله أكبر الله أكبر الله أكبر الله أكبر» ، تم انہیں بلند آواز سے کہو، پھر کہو: «أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله» انہیں ہلکی آواز سے کہو، پھر انہیں کلمات شہادت «أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله» کو بلند آواز سے کہو ۱؎، پھر «حى على الصلاة حى على الصلاة حى على الفلاح حى على الفلاح» کہو، اور اگر صبح کی اذان ہو تو«الصلاة خير من النوم الصلاة خير من النوم» کہو، پھر «الله أكبر الله أكبر لا إله إلا الله» کہو۔

English Translation

Abu Mahdhurah reported; I said; Messenger of Allah, teach me the method of ADHAN (how to pronounce the call to prayer). He wiped my forehead (with his hand) and asked me to pronounce; Allah is most great. Allah is most great. Allah is most great. Allah is most great, raising your voice while saying them (these words). Then you must raise your voice in making the testimony: I testify that there is no god but Allah, I testify that there is no god but Allah; I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Lowering your voice while saying them (these words). Then you must raise your voice in making the testimony: I testify that there is no god but Allah, I testify there is no god but Allah; I testify Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I testify Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Come to prayer, come to prayer; come to salvation, come to salvation. If it is the morning prayer, you must pronounce; prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep, Allah is most great; there is no god but Allah.
