Sunan Abu Dawood 605 - Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat)

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَلَّى وَرَاءَهُ قَوْمٌ قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اجْلِسُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا صَلَّى جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا .

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا فرماتی ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے گھر میں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھی اور لوگ آپ کے پیچھے کھڑے ہو کر پڑھنے لگے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں بیٹھ جانے کا اشارہ کیا، پھر جب آپ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو فرمایا: امام اسی لیے مقرر کیا جاتا ہے کہ اس کی پیروی کی جائے، لہٰذا جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو، جب وہ سر اٹھائے تو تم بھی سر اٹھاؤ اور جب وہ بیٹھ کر پڑھے تو تم سب بھی بیٹھ کر پڑھو ۔

English Translation

Aishah said; The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prayed in his house sitting and the people prayed behind him standing. He made a sign to them (asking them) to sit down. When he finished the prayer, he said: The IMAM is appointed only to be followed; so when he prays standing. Pray standing ; and when he raises himself, raise yourself: and when he prays sitting. Pray sitting.
