Shuaib bin Abi Hamzah said: Ibn al-Munkadir, Ibn Abi Farwah and a number of jurists of Madina said to me: When you recite the supplication “I am first of the Muslims, ” say instead; “I am one of the Muslims”.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُرَيْحُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ لِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنُ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ وغيرهما من فقهاء أهل المدينة فإذا قُلْتَ أَنْتَ ذَاكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ.

شعیب بن ابی حمزہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ   مجھ سے محمد بن منکدر، ابن ابی فروہ، اور دیگر فقہائے اہل مدینہ نے کہا: جب تم اس مذکورہ دعا کو پڑھو تو «وأنا أول المسلمين» کے جگہ «وأنا من المسلمين» کہا کرو۔
