Ingredients
  1. Ingredients for short crust pastry
    Flour 2 cups
    Semolina  ¼ cup
    Baking powder pinch
    Butter 4 ½ ounce
    Caster sugar 3 tbsp
    Ingredients for Filling
    Dates 200gm seeds removed chopped finely
    Apples peeled and chopped into cubes 2
    Honey 6 tbsp
    Butter 4 ounces
    Lemon juice 4 tbsp
    Caster sugar 4 ounce
    Walnut chopped 4 tbsp
Method
  • Method for short crust pastry
    Sieve flour with baking powder, add semolina, butter, caster sugar, mix and knead with cold water to form into dough, keep in fridge for 10 minutes to rest.
    Method for filling
    In a sauce pan mix together apples, chopped dates, honey, butter, caster sugar and lemon juice, cook on low flame for 10 minutes till pulpy, add walnuts, remove and keep aside, roll the pastry ¼ inch thick, spread in a 9 inch pie plate, prick base with fork and bake for 20 minutes on 190 degree C, remove, put filling arrange walnuts, re-bake for 15 minutes more, serve hot with cream or custard.
