Ingredients
  1. 8 oz butter
  2. 8 oz caster sugar
  3. 4 eggs
  4. 8 oz self raising flour
  5. 2 tsp baking powder
  6. 1 ½ tbsp cocoa powder
  7. 1 ½ tbsp hot water
  8. Icing :
  9. 150gm dark chocolate
  10. 4 oz butter
  11. 2 oz milk chocolate or white chocolate
Method
  • Beat butter, sugar and add eggs, fold in flour and baking powder.
  • Divide the batter in two.
  • Mix cocoa and water in a separate bowl till no lumps remain.
  • Mix in one half of the batter. Put half of the plain cake batter in a greased ring mould, dot with the cocoa batter.
  • Swirl with a knife until you get a marbled effect.
  • Bake at 180C for 30 minutes.
  • Cool for the icing, melt chocolate with butter, pour over cake and let set.
  • Melt the milk chocolate or white chocolate separately and pipe it over the cooled frosting.
