Ingredients
  1. Jumbo prawns ½ kg
    Water 1 cup
    Onion chopped 1
    Bay leaves 2
    Tomatoes boiled 4
    Dry red chilies 6 – 7
    Mustard seeds 1 tsp
    Coriander powder 1 tsp
    Chili powder 1 tbsp
    Turmeric ½ tsp
    Tamarind paste 2 tbsp
    Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
    Oil 3 tbsp
    Desiccated coconut 4 tbsp
    Oil for fry
    Salt to taste
Method
  • Place cuts on the prawns and keep aside.
    Heat 3 tbsp oil and fry prawns in it.
    In dry wok fry 6-7 dry red chili, 4 tbsp desiccated coconut, 1 tsp mustard seeds and 1 chopped onion and fry for 5-6 minutes till it changes the color.
    Add this mixture in a blender with 1/2 cup of water and make a paste and keep aside.
    Heat oil in a pan add 2 bay leaves, 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste, and fry for 2 minutes.
    Add 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tbsp red chili powder, ½ tsp turmeric, salt as required and coconut paste and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
    Add 4 boiled and chopped tomatoes and 1 cup of water and sauté on high flame.
    When the sauce thickens add fried prawns in it and mix for 2-3 minutes.
    Delicious prawn coconut masala is ready to serve.
