War on Terror

14th August, 1947 was finally a day of election for the people who had a desire for their liberty and autonomy from the inferior and low graded status they were given in the sub-continent. ‘Pakistan’, an Islamic sovereign state was a carnality for millions of souls came into being and turned into actuality.

Pakistan, a state that was created to protect the rights of its people and circulate peace in society by combating terrorism and anything that is a threat to the people of Pakistan will unfortunately be annexed by the FATF in the index of those countries that support terrorism. On the other side, Pakistan being a third world country lost 50,000 civilians and 6,000 security personnel in the war against terrorism which are more than the US loss of 2,357 soldiers. Not only this Pakistan is ranked second among the countries most affected by terrorism how a state of that might be annexed in the grey-list which itself is wreathed by the crucial non states actors like the Taliban. Moreover it should not be forgotten that Pakistan became a frontline ally of the US in War on Terror 16 years ago after 9/11 and the country suffered a whopping $123.1 billion cost on account of loss of lives and there was absolutely none to lick the wound of Pakistan. Due to the War on Terror Pakistan’s economy has been affected drastically. Exports and physical infrastructure face challenges.

FATF or the Financial Action Task Force was founded in 1989 with the role to encounter and eliminate money laundering and terrorist financing both on national and international level. Furthermore, it is combating Non-Cooperative Countries or Territories (NCCTs). FATF was incipient by the group of seven countries also known as G7. If Pakistan is included in the grey list, then Pakistan will not only face a little bit of isolated feeling but it will face decline in its economy, lucrative textile sector, as well as banking channels with Europe. India having hegemonic status in South Asia is supporting USA in its plan against Pakistan.

Basically the US with the support of Germany and Great Britain moved a resolution to add Pakistan on the grey-list. Pakistan was on this list previously for three years between 2012 and 2015. The task force recognised Pakistan’s efforts and removed it from the grey list in 2015 so but now the conflict between US and Pakistan increased amplifying the tensions between these two. So it is planned that Pakistan will be added in the grey list by June and if Pakistan fails to fulfil the rules of the grey list then the country will face the risk of being included on to the blacklist that already include North Korea and Iran.

Pakistan Army has done plenty of missions against terrorism that emerged nationally. It corroborated with Afghanistan against Soviet Union and the terrorist sin Afghanistan. Pakistan being a responsible country that provides largest number of troops for UN peacekeeping missions. None country other than Pakistan sacrifices more young soldiers for the free world than any other country by waging the War on Terror inside its own territory. From 1947 till now Pakistan is facing many challenges especially the terrorist one. Pak Army has been involved in four wars with neighbour India and several border skirmishes with Afghanistan. Even after 9/11 Pakistan joins hands with US-led war on terror that gave US a helping hand. Pakistan is well aware of all the threat, it knows how to protect its shelter the liberty and its territorial integrity. In recent years the army has undertaken many joint operations that include Operation Al-Mizan, Operation Rah-e-Haq, Operation Sher-e-Dil, Operation Zalzala, Operation Sirat-e-Mustaqeem, Operation Rah-e-Raast, Operation Rah-e-Nijaat, Operation Koh-e-Sufaid, Operation Zarb-e-Azb. Pakistan Army on Wednesday 22 February 2017 launched 'Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad' across the country with the aim or eliminate the fiscord. Day by day month by month and year by year Pakistan and its army is combating against the terrorist and it itself is a victim of terrorism now how can a state of this kind be listed in FATF? That would be absolutely unfair. From Operation Al-Mizan till now Radd-ul-Fasaad should be worth enough in the eyes of those countries who is suggesting to put Pakistan as a country funding Terrorist.
