WHOSE NEGLIGENCE IS THIS?
(Manzoor Hussain Rajper, Karachi)
On the night of, 23rd January,
2011 at approx 2:00 am, an accident between the passenger bus and Oil Tanker
took place. The media agencies reported that, a bus was going for Sukkur from
Karachi and it hit the Oil Tanker from the back near Noori Abad some 100
kilometers away from Karachi. The heavy smack caused the Oil Tanker in bang and
the fire surrounded both the vehicles. More than 60% of the people in the bus
kicked the bucket. The figures came in like this way:In the bus of approx 50
people about 30 people died and some 20 people jumped and flee out to save their
lives.
DPO Jamshoro and DG Motorway police told the media that, the causes of accident
may be the nap of driver of the passenger bus. They added that, the some rescued
passengers told that driver was noticed in nap during the traveling some
kilometers before the accident too. DG Motorway Police further said that, the
loss could have been minimized if the required facilities like Ambulances, fire
brigade, and rescue forces were present.
Here, I’ll recall you an accident that took place in approx in the end of 2005
that was more or less exactly of same nature. However, the bus was not collided
with any other vehicle but the fire from its own had surrounded the same from
the back. Approx 40 passengers were died at that time too. And the scenario was
same as the dead bodies were also unidentified able. And this was not the only
case. You must be observing that, in day in day out many accidents of the like
nature took place but no proper actions seem to be taken place.
Now, you must imagine that world is rushing towards the better systems, the
better facilities, better improvements and better changes in road systems in
every upcoming days but in our country no such improvements are observed even
the years pass away…! The loss could have been minimized if the authorities
concerned had learned a lesson from the past accidents. Once again, I’ll plea to
the Government and responsible authorities that, for heavens sake, do some
proper actions it’s the issue of human lives.
