What is trauma ?
Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event with lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social or even spiritual well-being. It leaves one in an inescapable condition.
Types of trauma ?
Acute trauma results from a single incident.
Chronic trauma is repeated and prolonged such as domestic violence or abuse.
Complex trauma is exposure to multiple traumatic events, mostly of interpersonal nature.

What happens if childhood trauma is not resolved ?
Experiencing trauma in childhood can result in long-lasting effect. When childhood trauma is not resolved, a sense of fear and helplessness carries over into adulthood, thus resulting into further trauma.

When you talk to your doctor or mental health professional , they will ask questions about the symptoms you are experiencing and how long ago the trauma occurred.
Treatment of childhood trauma :
Psychotherapy = It will help replace negative thinking with more realistic thoughts.
Medication = It includes use of antidepressants and anti-anxiety medicines.
