USAGE OF DRUGS DEVASTATING THE YOUNG GENERATION OF PAKISTAN
Drug addiction is ruining the life of the young generation of Pakistan, drug abuse affects a person mentally, physically, and socially, and it brings negative Changes in society which detrimentally impacts on family and institutions. Drug-addicted people look awkward with smelly clothes, and dirty face, because of the lack of money, they start doing crimes. increasing drug addiction put civilized society at risk. 0.7million children are obsessed with drugs. 700 children die due to drug addiction in the state. More than 1 million children between the age of 16 to 18 regularly use heroin. Another 0.3million children are addicted to cannabis or marijuana. Pakistan has a high population of children suffering from cannabis and marijuana because of the low price and easy access to drugs.
The UNODC report of 2013 has revealed a substantial proportion of Pakistan's population aged 15 to 64 suffer from the devastating consequences of substance abuse. The Report estimates that 6.7 million adults in Pakistan used drugs, The study shows the majority of the drug users are between 25 and 39 years of age. Of these drug users, 80% were men and 20% were women.
According to ANF, About 7 million Pakistanis are involved in taking Drugs, amongst which 4 million use Cannabis while 2.7 million use Opioids. Pakistan is recognized by the entire world as a Poppy Free State (less than 1000 hectares), but a victim of Afghan Opiates Drug Trafficking, Most of the drugs come from Afghanistan, the country that is responsible for at least 75% of the world's heroin.
Densely populated cities of Pakistan, Peshawar, Quetta, and Karachi, where drug abuse is rampant include the areas of Karachi Sohrab Goth, Malir, Nazimabad, Lyari, and Hub Chowki. The annual number of people who died due to drug use is estimated at 0.2 million Which increasing rapidly, Consumption of drugs can not stop but can be control and reduce by the government and forces of the state, the youth of every country is power of the state if the youth gets addiction to drugs country can not go on the path of development, Legal Authorities must take this matter seriously, and take legal action against the drug dealers to control the supply of drugs because drug abuse is not only destroying the lives of individuals, It also destroyed the family, society, cities and the entire country.
