Notorious Institution and Me

(Afzal Saba, Karachi)

Yesterday night I just reached home from the university. There were any functions of marriage in the neighborhood. They were in full enjoyment of having a loudspeaker. The whole of society was fully disturbed because of this function. I was thinking the function will end after a few hours but was not taking the name of stopping. It became quite difficult for me to continue my study. Finally, I decided to wait till midnight after that if they continue their activities as such, I will get help with litigation. As per the legal law of Pakistan, “The civilian population is being affected by the fumes of factory or factory, or someone has disturbed the civilian population by installing a loudspeaker (except azan). You can approach the special magistrate under section 133 of the penal code, 1989. The magistrate will Pass an order under section 133 to dispose of these complaints”. Patience was over now I called the police helpline (15) and record my complaint. The police assured me that they will be there as soon as possible. “You have to join us when we reached your location”, said the police. “I will be there”, I said. within fifteen minutes the police came there and asked to meet them. police went to the gate of the marriage hall,” who is the responsive man of this function”, said the policeman. The police told them we got complain against you, stop the loud music sound the whole society including students and patients are suffering because of you. We here are, if you couldn’t follow instructions, we are not responsible for your function, said the police. Within a few minutes, the sound system stopped. Here I want to say “burn your share”. If you think this is a routine issue and no one is there to hear then no one will hear you. You have to show courage as an educated citizen and record your complaint to the responsible authorities, the state will think better as we cannot. We couldn’t try to take any steps and always blame the institution. When the police came by a phone call, I was shocked at how it was possible because I haven’t good thoughts for the police like you people. Even when the police call me to meet them one of my friends was not ready to go with me, and says they will take you-you to the police station and a long story will generate. We have a pessimistic view and try to prove it. This is our main problem. The institution was made corrupt by the people, not the institution itself. Society, and country will not grow until we become responsible citizens.
