Footsteps
(Dr. Shakira Nandini, Porto)
In the journey of life, everyone faces moments of loneliness and melancholy. "Footsteps" is a deep and meaningful piece that highlights the inner solitude and mental struggles of a person. It speaks of a silent, unseen presence that always lingers close, residing in our thoughts and compelling us to ask ourselves certain questions.
Through the poet's voice, this presence is like a shadow that follows us, showing us that at times in life, we become so weary that we can't find a way forward, nor can we turn back. Under the light of the moon and the dim glow of lamps, when we feel the weight of loneliness, this presence comes close to remind us of its existence. It makes us ask ourselves, "Why don't you ever smile?"
This question is not only directed at others but is, in fact, an internal question we ask ourselves. Our smiles, our happiness, seem to fade away, and we move through life like a tired, empty vessel. This writing reminds us that sometimes we must look inward to understand our own state and, in doing so, rediscover our smile.
The piece teaches us that if we face our inner struggles, we can emerge from them and find the joy within ourselves once more.
