A historic and spiritually uplifting moment was witnessed in the parliamentary history of Pakistan as Naat-e-Rasool ﷺ was recited in the Senate for the first time after the recitation of the Holy Quran. The memorable development took place during the Senate session held on May 13, 2026, following the recent approval of a resolution introducing Naat recitation at the commencement of proceedings in the Upper House.
The honor of presenting the first-ever Naat in the Senate was bestowed upon internationally acclaimed Qari and Naat reciter Dr. Qari Ikramullah Mohsin, whose soulful recitation created an atmosphere of reverence and devotion inside the House. Senators and attendees warmly appreciated the initiative, terming it a meaningful addition to parliamentary traditions and a reflection of the country’s Islamic identity.
Dr. Mohsin is among Pakistan’s most distinguished Quran reciters and is widely known for his mastery in Qirat and Tajweed. Born in Khushab in 1983, he pursued both religious and professional excellence, later earning his medical degree from Osh University in Kyrgyzstan in 2010. Alongside his medical career, he continued serving the Holy Quran through public recitations, Islamic programs, and international religious gatherings.
Over the years, Dr. Mohsin has represented Pakistan in numerous countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Qatar, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Kyrgyzstan, where his recitations received widespread recognition. He has also appeared on several national television channels and remained associated with Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan as an approved A-category Qari.
In recognition of his remarkable services in the field of Quran recitation and religious representation, the Government of Pakistan awarded Dr. Qari Ikramullah Mohsin the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2023. He also serves as the official Qari of the Senate of Pakistan and regularly performs Tilawat during important state ceremonies and national events attended by senior government leadership.
