Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai : Poem dedicated to the Voice of Women and Girls All Around the World

When I start to consider my voice
I remember the day that I was an infant in the uterus hearing the lullaby of my mother
She used to sing to me of the beauties of the world
She used to teach me songs of birds and bees

Then I was born and I lived a full life and became an adult
I myself bore two girls
As they grew in the womb of the universe I used to sing them a song:

You can You can You can
You can become a doctor
You can become a dancer
You can become a gardener, a chef, a biologist or a chemist
You can walk on the moon and fly a shuttle
You can go after your dreams because they are yours alone
You can be a lawyer
You can be a mother
You can become anything you want to be

Today I hold all the girls in the world and I sing them this lullaby
Today I hold all the sisters in the world and I listen to their voice
Today I look at myself in the mirror and know that I must raise my voice with this poem

This poem is dedicated to all the women and all the men that know we all come from the same seed of light and who know we all come to life equal.

Also, I remember that Malala’s dream is to become a doctor… may she give all those who dream a voice.
