Mum's poem to dead son
(Najamuddin Ghanghro, Karachi(original from Larkana))
"So precious, so innocent, not
yet knowing what life holds . . . I love you my child, my second son. I love you
my baby, my dear Charlie Boy."
The heart-wrenching poem in the memorial book for Charlie Mullaley had to convey
his mother's grief when she was too distraught to speak at an emotionally
charged service in Broome yesterday.
Tamica Mullaley, 27, burst into tears and hugged her father Ted Mullaley as the
two united minutes before they entered the church.
Family friends, some sobbing, rallied around the pair outside.
Ten-month-old Charlie was allegedly taken from his Broome home by Ms Mullaley's
boyfriend, Mervyn Kenneth Bell, 25, last week after a domestic dispute. The baby
was found at Fortescue Roadhouse almost 900km south of Broome but died on the
way to hospital.
Mr Bell has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm, which may be
upgraded to murder. He is in custody and will appear in Karratha Magistrate's
Court on April 3.
