What is Work
(An extract from book “Intelligence)
Work means: ---
1) To change the shape of matter (elements) by making molecules compounds and
all material things which we see around us and
2) To shift these matter and things from one place to another place.
Work is being done in the whole universe and on the earth. Thus, matter is being
changed from one shape to another and things are being shifted from one place to
another. All livings being on the earth are busy in doing work. They are either
making things or shifting things from one place to another.
To perform work energy is required. Without energy no work can be done. The
required energy is present in material (elements its molecules, compounds) and
living bodies. When a material object (atom, molecule, compound) or a living
body does some work it uses proportionate energy from its body. When a body uses
energy naturally, it suffers weakness, tiredness, wear and tear, exhaustion and
destruction or death. In other words working body undergoes a certain loss. As
material things do not have intelligence, they do not feel such loss and
continue to do work until they are stopped. On the other hand, animals when do
work and suffer weakness, exhaustion they dislike to do work. This is the reason
why all animals work only when they feel hungry or found themselves in danger of
death. But as soon as they get food and satisfy their hunger or danger is over
they stop working and take rest. Therefore, the animal intellectual level is not
capable to accept the advice of work. Consequently, animals can be set on work
only by force or training.
By nature, man dislikes to do work like animals due to the above-explained
reasons. But man has been seated on a very high and superior place. He has been
gifted with the best physical capabilities and highest intellectual level. Due
to which man understands the importance and significance of doing work. He does
work voluntarily keeping in view the benefits of work. Therefore, it is very
difficult for a person of high intellectual level to set idle. But, remember! As
the intellectual level breaks down the ability to understand the importance and
significance of the work also goes down. Hence, persons bearing first level of
intelligence (Initial Level) do work like animals. They go to work only when
they feel much hungry or fear of punishment. Now question arises how to persuade
such a first step we should take the help of “training and advice” and if they
fail, then the method of punishment and force should be applied. A famous
proverb is “a word to wise and rod to otherwise”.
