This was his last day at
engineering college. Great roars of laughter were there. He was very happy and
joyous as all were. The all friends were embracing each other with a promise to
meet again and yes, this was not their last meeting because they have to meet
again.
Asim was very talented and ambitious boy. A movie of his journey was moving in
his mind that how he reached to the engineering collage, how many hardships his
parents bore to make him an engineer, and now he was an engineer, a complete
engineer. Today he was emotional too, that now he may cope with the cruel
worldthat snatched his parents due to empty pockets and empty stomach.
Days passed, he applied at different companies and engineering agencies. His CV
was wandering all over the city but he was not receiving any response. Why?
Because he was not the son of Bureaucrat or an Industrialist. Yes, this was the
reason. Yes, it’s Pakistan where equality went to hell a time ago. He was
getting pressurized day by day, stress and depression caught him eventually. As
the days were passing a black future was waiting for him that was making him
frightened.
One day, he was sitting in his old, broken, one room house, no light was there
in the house only a small candle was burning and its flame was about to finish.
He was gazing it constantly and cracking his knuckles in response to anxiety.
Empty pockets, empty kitchen and empty house made him burst into tears suddenly.
A boy, who was very strong still after many hardships of life, but he was crying
today. He was screaming badly because he did not know what to do? What to do to
get a job? What to do to pay the bills that were pending since one year? How to
manage his house? How to pay big bank loans that his father took for his
studies? His engineering degree was laughing at him and he was badly crying in
that dark room where flame was finished now.
His all friends started enjoying their professional lives because they belong to
well off families. No one among them was the son a farmer except him. This
bright student, who was the gold medalist, was ashamed of his own self that he
did not get a job even. His self-esteem went away from him by leaving him alone
there.
His father once said to him, “Asim, these tears can’t help you in any field of
life, so try to overcome them.”
While crying, words of his father rang his mind and thus he tried to relax
himself but all in vein because this was the matter of his life and death.
He was thinking, “Do I have the same future as many students do by committing
suicide… No, I can’t commit suicide because my parents did not dream of it. I
have to live for them. But, How??”
After thinking of the circumstances he decided to do something in order to get
money.
He went to his nearby grocery shop and requested the owner to give him a job for
salesman. Owner was a kind and a gentleman, knew his father and his present
state. So, he appointed him as his sales man. Finally, A Gold Medalist Engineer
got a job, a job of a salesman.
One day, A Mercedes stopped in front of his working area and a suited man with
his son was there. He was his old class fellow from engineering college. Both
were best friends once, now they did not meet each other even but they both were
shocked to see each other. Many questions went unquestioned. He was watching his
friend constantly with watery eyes whom was now out of the door. His friend went
away by making him realize that he is not his friend but only a salesman.
Isn’t this a shameful matter for whole of the community that just because of in
equality deserving ones are becoming salesmen!! It’s not a story, its reality...
It’s our reality which needs to be enlightened in front of each and every person
who creates in justice in the society. Not on the higher bases, it is present in
every smaller occupation because it became root cause of today. It should be cut
down from the roots because fire can only be extinguished at its root not at its
top.
