The Muslims in the state of
Jammu and Kashmir are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitar along with the Muslims of rest of
the country. The holy Month of Ramadhan is a month that teaches the lesson of
patience, control over the unending desires, which make a human being a greedy,
avarice, full of sloth and a lusty fellow. The month makes the people practice
the teachings of Quran and Sunnah with sheer enthusiasm.
Although the teachings should be practiced throughout the year but the holy
Month of Ramdhan acts as a practice session for those who are lenient in other
eleven months and follow the teachings of Islam occasionally.
Allah (Subhanawatallah) in the holy book of Quran has said that fasting is a
secret between me and my preechers. Those who fast in this month are showered
with blessings from the starting point, early dawn to closing time i.e is sunset
in the evening.
This month teaches us to be generous and think and share the misery of
destitute, orphans and those who sleep without a dinner and work without a lunch
in normal days only because they cannot afford it.
It teaches the followers of Islam a lesson as how to control the id and attain
to much extent super ego qualities. It teaches us the lesson to become a
harmless being for the humanity. It teaches us how attain real solace of heart
and get blessings of Almighty.
Allah in the month of Holy Ramadhaan sets open all the doors of his blessings on
mankind in general and muslims in particular especially those who practice
fasting.
He while alluding towards his pious preechers says, oh man come and loot the
blessings from me as these are unlimited in this holy month. The Muslims in
order to attain more and more blessings from the Almighty give alms to the poor,
orphans and other needy people irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.
Allah in the Holy Quran says that Every good deed would be paid 70 times more.
In the month of Ramdhan the mosques show good increased attendance during
prayers. It is the month which automatically turns everything into religious
fever and makes people enthusiastic to do more and more good deeds.
Although the whole month of Ramadhan is aspacious but some days like Fridays,
the last Fridays of the month, the night of Lela-tul-Qadr attain much more
importance in this month. Even no Muslim would prefer to not to offer prayers on
Fridays in general and last Friday in particular and during the Night of Lela-tul-Qadr.
The special Night of Lela-tul-Qadr commonly called “ Shabe-Qadr” is the night
when all Muslims throughout the world do not sleep and remain busy in performing
various religious activities like offering Salah, reciting Holy Quran and
praying for the betterment of the humanity, repenting the sinful life.
Ramadhan is a month which teaches communal harmony and all people whether
Muslims or non Muslims share the blessings of this holy month. In Jammu and
almost all over India Non-Muslims even taunt a Muslim if he does not fast during
the month of unlimited blessings.
Before offering the Salah on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr it is mandatory for every
muslim to pay alms to poor and needy called Sadqa-e-Fitr so that they can
celebrate the festival with zeal and fervor without feeling discriminated.
One the eve of Eid people flock to the prayer grounds (Eidgah) specially meant
for Eid prayers. In Jammu city the mosques like Talab Khatatikan, Bhathindi,
mosques at Railway Station, Lakhdatta bazaar, Ustad Mohalah and the Central
Eidgah ground give a life giving scene as people in traditional and clean
dresses are seen flocking to these religious places.
Soon after the prayers are over in Jammu people from Hindu community, Sikh
community and other religions hug their Muslim brethren and congratulate them on
this auspicious occasion.
