Sarwari Qadri Order. Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (R.A.)
transferred the Trust of Allah to him and he became the next Shaikh of the
Sarwari Qadri Order after the former.
Geneology
Sultan-ul-Tarikeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Madni Jilani
(R.A.) was born on the Friday night of the 29th Ramazan 1186 H (24th December
1772) in Madina. He moved to Ahmedpur Sharqiah, Bahawalpur on the Saturday of
29th Ramazan 1241H (6th May 1826) in the reign of Nawab Bahawal Khan III. He was
the great grandson of Syed Abdul Rehman Jilani Dehlvi (R.A.). His ancestry goes
up to Ghaus-ul-Azam Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu in the
following way:
Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Madni Jilani (R.A.) son of Syed Abdul Raheem (R.A.)
son of Syed Abdul Aziz (R.A.) son of Syed Abdul Rehman Jilani Dehlvi (R.A.) son
of Syed Abdul Qadir son of Sharf-ud-Din son of Syed Ahmed son of Syed
Alla-ud-Din Sani son of Syed Shahab-ud-Din Sani son of Syed Sharf-ud-Din Qasim
son of Syed Mohi-ud-Din Yahya son of Syed Badr-ud-Din Hussain son of Alla-ud-Din
son of Shams-ud-Din son of Saif-ud-Din Yahya son of Zaheer-ud-Din Masood son of
Abi Nasr Mohammad son of Abu Saleh Nasr son of Syedna Abdul Razzaq Jilani (R.A.)
son of Ghaus-ul-Azam Syedna Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu.
His mother, Syeda Momina, belonged to the progeny of Imam Syed Mohammad Taqi
Alayh Salam. Hence, he was a Hussaini Syed from his maternal side.
Ancestors & Parents
Syed Abdul Aziz (R.A.), the son of Syed Abdul Rehman Jilani Dehlvi (R.A.) was
born in Dehli in 1082 H (1671 A.D). In 1182 H (1769 A.D), Syeda Momina was
married to Syed Abdul Raheem Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh. She was a very pious lady
who always used to say her Tahajjud prayers and had learnt the Quran verbally.
This marriage became a source of peace and stability for Syed Abdul Raheem
(R.A.).
After 4 years of marriage, the couple had a son whose sacred birth took place on
the Friday night of 29th Ramazan 1186 H (24th December 1722) in Madina. He was
none other than Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) named after his maternal
great grandfather by his grandfather Syed Zaki-ud-Din. The child’s forehead was
illuminated by the Noor of Allah. Whoever beheld him, went ecstatic. Syed
Abdullah Shah was his grandfather's beloved, who always tried to keep him close
to himself. He used to say, "One day, this child would shine like the Noor
(Light) at the horizen of sainthood."
When Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) was 7 years of age, his mother started
teaching him to memorize the Holy Quran and at the age of 12, he successfully
learnt all of it. He developed a very restless and anxious nature and would find
peace only while praying or reading the Quran. So he spent most of his time
worshipping Allah. He had a special place in his heart for his grandfather
because he was the one who told him about the life and personality of the Holy
Prophet (pbuh), and showed him each and every place where he had stayed between
Makkah and Madina.
Search of Divine Truth-Allah
Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) had grown disgusted from everything that life
had to offer. When his state of anxiety used to increase, he immediately started
worshipping and reciting the Holy Quran but as soon as he paused, the same state
took over him again. His frenzy reached its peak and he wandered for miles in
the heat from Madina to Makkah sometimes around Ka’aba clinging to its walls and
sometimes secluding himself in the cave of Hira and Thaur without food. Nine
years passed in the same state.
On the Sunday of 27th Shaban 1226 H (15th September 1811 A.D), at the age of 40,
Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) secluded himself in Masjid-e-Nabwi seeking
the heritage of Faqr and started serving there. He quietly kept himself absorbed
in his work and found the peace and bliss which was missing in his life.
After 6 years of hard work, Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) was graced with
the holy presence of Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh) in his dream who asked him, "What do
you ask for, in return of your services?" He replied humbly, “You know that this
slave of yours seeks only Faqr.” Hearing this, the Holy Prophet said, "For Faqr,
you would have to go to Hindustan to Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan
Bahoo."
When Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) woke up, he was surprised and worried to
think that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) himself is the origin of righteousness and
guidance so how can he refer to Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh. Hence,
he continued his routine services at Masjid-e-Nabwi. After another six years,
the Holy Prophet (pbuh) came into his dream again and asked the same question as
he did before. "What do you ask for, in return of your services?" He replied the
same as well that his only wish is Faqr. He replied, "You would get Faqr only
from Sakhi Sultan Bahoo". This time, Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) added,
"I am totally unaware of the language, culture and livelihood of that region."
Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh) replied, "I hand you over to my beloved, Shaikh Abdul
Qadir Jilani, now it is his responsibility to guide you and help you reach
there". He woke up and came out of the holy Masjid-e-Nabwi after 12 years of
stay, on the Monday of 23rd Ramazan 1238 H (2nd June 1823 A.D).
Spiritual Journey
On the Sunday of the 29th of Ramazan 1238 H (8th June 1823 A.D), he left Madina
and made his way towards Baghdad. On the Monday of 28th Shawal 1238 H (7th July
1823 A.D), he reached the sacred shrine of Ghaus-ul-Azam Hazrat Shaikh Abdul
Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu who greeted by saying, "You are my genealogical as
well as spiritual son." For about 2 years, Ghaus-ul-Azam Razi Allah Anhu
spiritually educated Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.). He then spiritually
handed him over to his son Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Razzaq (R.A.) saying, "He is your
son and it is now your responsibility to guide him further.” He ordered Syed
Mohammad Abdullah Shah, “Proceed by meeting every Sarwari Qadri Shaikh according
to their sequence in the Order and then reach the assembly of our beloved Hazrat
Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (R.A.) which is your destiny, from there you will find Faqr
and get Amanat-e-Elahiya (the Trust of Allah).” Hence, on Sunday, 11th of
Jamadi-us-Sani 1240 H (30th January 1825 A.D), after receiving the spiritual
bounty from Syed Abdul Razzaq (R.A.), Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) started
his journey in the same sequence.
After spiritually meeting and getting beneficence from each spiritual guide of
Sarwari Qadri Order, he reached the sacred shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo
(R.A.) on Monday, 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1241 (24th October 1825). Upon seeing him,
he said, “Welcome Abdullah Shah Sahib, I had been waiting just for you.” After
meeting all the Shaikhs of the Order, the Divine Secret was already revealed to
Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.).
Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (R.A.) transferred the
Amanat-e-Elahiya/Trust of Allah to Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.).
Arrival at Ahmedpur Sharqiah Bahawalpur(Pakistan)
On the Saturday of 29th Ramazan 1241 H (6th May 1826 A.D), in the reign of Nawab
Bahawal Khan III, Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh reached
Ahmedpur Sharqiah. He resided at the hillock which is now a mosque near his
shrine. When the Nawab got to know about this, he came to have the privilege of
meeting him. After having the honour of his company and beneficence Nawab
Bahawal Khan built a house for Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh
and quarters for the dervishes. He even took upon himself the expenditures of
Khanqah, the lungar of dervishes and zaireen, food and all the other
miscellaneous expenses. Whenever he faced difficulties or problems in life, he
requested Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah (R.A.) with utmost respect to pray and
consequently, all his problems got resolved.
Title
The title of Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Madni Jilani (R.A.) is
“Sultan-ul-Tarikeen” which was bestowed upon him by the Assembly of Hazrat
Mohammad (pbuh) because he was one of those saints about whom Allah has said in
the Hadith-e-Qudsi, “There are few of My Men who are under My cover, nobody
knows about them but Me.”
In the Malfuzaat of Pir Mohammad Abdul Ghafoor Shah (R.A.), it is written:
“He was an independent saint, complete Knower and perfect Friend of Allah,
amongst the most pious ones who are hidden from the world according to the
Hadith-e-Qudsi. Indifferent to the fame of world, he remained in solitude,
meditating with complete attention towards Allah in his state of engrossment.”
He always kept himself away from the affairs of the state, court and fame.
Neither did he go to the gathering of any Nawab nor to any Sardar. He always
stayed at his Khanqah and when the True Seekers of Allah came to him, he blessed
them with spiritual guidance and the bounty of Allah cleansing their Nafs and
purifying their heart.
Ghaus-ul-Azam Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu and Sultan-ul-Arifeen
Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (R.A.) spiritually addressed him as ‘Shah Sahib’ which
is why he is famous with this title as well.
