Necklace dilemma
(Muhammad Naeem Memon, Karachi)
No leader in Pakistan let any
opportunity of extortion go unavailed and thus he remains actively busy making
hay while the sun shines with impunity.
This is not the only necklace and neither is it the only spectacle which has
brought shame & contempt upon the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousuf Raza
Gilani and his party. Prior to this sordid drop scene, a letter was written by
PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari to the Swiss authorities in order to seek return of
confiscated jewellery, including a necklace worth over $300,000 of his late wife
Benazir Bhutto but the government had asked the Swiss authorities to repatriate
the expensive jewellery set to Pakistan instead to be auctioned and how brazenly
Mr. Zardari had denied the ownership of Swiss jewellery everyone can recall
without delving into deep contemplation.
First of all it is very important to understand why did Turkish first lady Mrs
Erdogan donate a priceless necklace instead of cash? Is there any impeccable or
exquisite logic behind it? Yes! Turkish education system carries a lesson in its
syllabus illustrating the spiritual and emotional bond of subcontinent Muslim
women with Turk nation when they had donated their jewellery at the time of the
fall of Uthmaniyah Caliphate; it was the hardest period for Turkish nation who
were witnessing the worst timeof their history and they were so badly stranded
and stood completely isolated.
Jewellery is considered to be the most precious belonging of women after their
children. Turkish citizen are well aware of this selfless fraternity&
brotherhood of their Muslim sisters of subcontinent who showed their intense
devotion and attachment in their own way and moved by deep emotion and sentiment
they sacrificed their invaluable and dearest possession. Now Pakistani people
specially our nescient political high ups must understand that Turkish first
lady Mrs Erdogan could have donated money but we failed to figure out that she
would have also studied that same lesson like others and certainly she would
have learned that how Muslims sisters belonging to India helped their Turk
nation in the need of hour. Turkish people respect Pakistani nation even until
now and if we examine this fact little closely, we discover that if Pakistanis
have some respect and honour in any country then it is none other than Turkey
and Turkish first lady must have thought to donate a diamond nickels as a symbol
for the flood-stricken people of Pakistan in order to pay off the debt of her
Muslims sisters and truly by donating a diamond nickels she has proved that
Turkish women also have courage and spirit to sacrifice their most valuable
possession for Pakistani nation in the need of hour and how appreciating it
would have been if we have showed reverence & respect to their incredible and
spiritual feelings and preserve the precious necklace in museum as a memorable
souvenir but alas it was gone missing and having grappled with an intriguing
mystery, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) served a legal notice to former
Prime Minister of Pakistan warning him that if the necklace was not submitted
within three days, a case would be lodged against him and in response when no
alternative had left; former Prime Minister had to return the diamond necklace
after a long period of 5 years.
Noticeable thing is that if leaders themselves are known to be the most corrupt
in the world then how their adherents can be trusted and amazingly every
Pakistani politician one by one is a piece of news these days, not because of
their politics but due to the massive corruption, malpractice and crookedness.
