A tribute to all the defenders
of Pakistan with context to my father's army life. ( true specimen of patriotic
leader/ regimental soldier. )
I remember it all too well.. the days which we spent waiting for him. The nights
we prayed for his well being. Our birthdays where he wasn’t with us. I remember
the panic look on my mother’s face when news caster announced the names of those
officers who embraced shahadad during the war. I remember that little teardrop
of happiness rolling down my mother’s cheek when she got a call from baba after
so long. I remember how her eyes searched for his face among all those Army
Officers who were coming back from borders on holidays.. I remember how we spent
days after days without our father. I remember how I used to cry under my
blanket when I missed him. There were times when I urged to feel the warmth of
his hug but I couldn’t because he was away fighting for THIS LAND, THIS COUNTRY.
I remember it all too well.. and I am PROUD of it. I am proud of my father and I
am proud to be an Army Brat. Moreover, I am proud of my mother who ALONE raised
three little kids despite of the fact that she, herself was too young and
fragile to handle this hard situation but she did. She handled all our tantrums
with all the love and care.
They didn’t tell us how to live; they lived and let us watch them do it. I thank
my parents for providing us this memorable life. And I thank Allah Ta’ala for
blessing us with the best. And I would love to see my brother doing the same
sacrifices for this nation. Insha Allah.
Cheers to all the Army men who sacrifise their present for our future, to all
the mothers who gave birth to SHAHEENS, to all the wives who stand all the hard
situations with their soldier husbands, to all the sisters who pray all night
long for the success of their soldier brothers, to all the families who let
their “chiragh” burn for this nation.
