Pashto being ignored at educational institutions creates problems for Pakistani Students in Afghanistan

(Musarrat Ullah Jan, Peshawar)

Peshawar, The tribal students, who have visited Kabul to seek admissions in Medical Institution, are facing problems because of Pashto languages. Most students passed the exam in English in Pakistan, but the entry test in Afghanistan is in Pashto. That is necessary for every student, who is interested in education in Afghanistan.

According to the latest detail Afghanistan government reserved twelve seats for tribal students who are interested to get admission in Afghanistan. The Afghan Government has provided an opportunity to tribal students of Pakistan to get education in Afghanistan. Currently, twenty two universities are giving this opportunity to the students in different sector of education.

Afghan government has reserved quota for Pakistani tribal student, but currently than more than 30 students are in Afghanistan to get admissions in MD, which is medical degree for students and students from Pakistan who’s passed fsc exam visiting Afghanistan to get admission there.
These Pakistani students pass exams in English language, their education is either in English or Urdu because their parent Admit them in different Pakistan institutions, where none of the local language is taught.

A student's father residing in Peshawar, who didn’t mention his name because his sons are in Afghanistan, said that my two sons are now in Afghanistan to get admission there. But it's difficult for my children to be succeeded. Because they testing system there in Afghanistan is in Pashto,

Father further added that I have no resources that why I sent my children to Afghanistan for medical education. Because it’s necessary of the current situation, tribal should educate their children, I had a wish to become doctor but because of my low income I didn’t afford medical education. But now I sent my children to get education in Afghanistan, because in Afghanistan they give quota for Pakistani tribal students.

The father admits it that Afghan government give education in mother language, so they arrange Kankor (Entry Test) for every student, whose interested get admission in medicine or engineering. My sons are intelligent, but they didn’t know Pashto very well. So they are worried about the test. If the Afghan government arrange test in English for Pakistani students, mostly students will easily qualify through the test.

Currently Afghanistan Government is giving education in Pashto, Farsi and Dari Language to students; more than 22 government universities give opportunities to the students. MD is medical Degree and the course of seven years, 5 years in medical college while 2 years is Practices and that must for every MD Holders.

The students whose in Kabul get admission said, that he feel safe in Afghanistan, because in Afghanistan no one attack occurred on school or university, so we feel safe here. He said that after the completion of his MD, he will go to Russia for further education. The students blame the Pakistani education system, that here in Afghanistan; we are facing now the language barrier, because here everything is in Pashto, but in Pakistan we learn in English and Urdu and our mother language is ignore.
