Jamrud, Khyber Agency, Ranger
stopped the Extortion from traders in Karachi, but where we go now for help in
our own province. It was said by the container driver who was sitting in
karkhano market neat to his container. The tire of container was busted the road
side and he along with assistant was busy in changing it.
Lal Mohammed the resident of Khyber agency working as a container truck driver
since 2005. He takes the container from Karachi to Afghanistan. He carry transit
items from Karachi port to Afghanistan through container. Lal Mohammad along
five other people is a driver with the Punjab base company. The owner of the
company works with international companies and mostly brings the goods from
Pakistan to Afghanistan through container.
According to the container driver the road from Karachi to Peshawar the roads is
1400 kilometer and our total expenditure is twelve this and including toll plaza
Tax and lunch diner. We pay 8 thousand rupees Tax to the different toll plaza to
the government of Pakistan but...
When we reach to Peshawar ring road System totally change here. From ring road
Peshawar to take-home border only 30 kilometers roads we use, but we pay twelve
thousand rupees, which mostly goes to the corrupt official pockets and no one
cares.
The driver Lal Mohammed further added that security official think that the
container owner have big money that's why they stop us in the name if checking
and they takes money from every vehicle which goes from Karachi to Afghanistan.
According to the Lal Mohammed when à container reach to ring road Peshawar the
police check post demand for money and this takes 1000 rupees. After that a
local Bully person guards get money from every vehicle near karkhano check post.
It’s a Peshawar area not a Khyber Agency, but who cares, that a Bully Person
getting money on the roadside in front of everyone, but no one take notice. Some
time the guard demand for 200 rupees.
After getting money from the container driver also 100 to karkhano check post,
because we are crossing the check post. The price of Takhta bag Check post is
1100; 300 hundred to Jamrud road check post. 3000in NLC checking, 1100 on before
the check post another 500 Rupees for parang sang, 100 for theory post, another
200 rupees near large,1100 Rupees for machine 400 rupees for custom 500 rupees
to khasadar 500 rupees to take-home border 100 rupees custom and 2300 rupees for
khasadar and more 1000 rupees for malasia officials. This total amount becomes
13000 thousand rupees. More than 13 thousand rupees these people take from
almost every driver.
The driver added that 80 percent money goes to the individual’s pocket, because
no one gives receipts to them.
According to the other driver who locally uses the car 2d for bringing the
passengers from Jalal Abad to Peshawar .He added that if someone didn't want to
pay the money to these people, they start misbehaving with the driver and also
stopping the vehicles in the name or security. So vehicle driver's worried about
these people. They are using their authority against poor people.
A source confirms the driver statement and said that khasadar giving money to
appoint on take-home borders because it's a cave of money. Everyone who runs his
vehicle on same road should give money to these people. Otherwise, he will face
hurdles to clear himself or vehicle in the same area.
Daily more than three thousand vehicles cross Pak Afghan border through
take-home and they pay more than 13 thousand rupees to the officials who are on
duty so the Money which is collected from people is above three million rupees.
The rent of these vehicles from Karachi to Afghanistan is 235000 Rupees and
daily more than 300 vehicles use the same route and rotation, which is only,
came from Karachi to Jalal Abad, they have transit goods and they are paying
money to these people on different post. These people are daily getting more
than 4 million Rupees from transit, transport, but where is the money going…
The Drivers blames the Local Journalists that they are getting money from Local
Administration, that’s why they didn’t write a single word the truth, what is
going on the Khyber Agency road, which is nastiness with the poor people.
The Member Assembly of the Khyber Agency Shah G, Rahman and Senator Taj Mohammad
shout against these things, but no one gets notice of their protest and still
the illegal business of taking money from Container is ongoing.
