Bagh-e-Jinnah
Jinnah’s Gardens or Bagh-e-Jinnah is a historic park situated in Lahore,
Pakistan. It was previously known as Lawrence Gardens and is one of the oldest
gardens in Lahore. The large green lawns cover historic buildings such as Masjid
Dar-ul-Islam, Victorian building and Quaid-e-Azam Library. The park also has
sports and entertainment facilities within a park. There is a restaurant,
Gymkhana Cricket ground, a tennis court and a restaurant. The park is situated
on the Lawrence road next to Lahore Zoo which is located across the Governor’s
House on the Mall.
Shalimar Gardens
Shalimar Gardens also spelled as Shalmar Gardens is a persian garden complex
situated in Lahore. Construction started in 1637 C.E and completed in 1641. The
gardens are inspired from Punjab, Persia, Kashmir and the Delhi Sultanate.
Shalimar Gardens are laid in a form of an elongated parallelogram. Shalimar
gardens are surrounded by a brick wall and is popular for its intricate
fretwork. The garden is made on the Char Bagh concept. The garden is 658 meters
in length and 258 meters in width. It was also included as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site alongside Lahore Fort under the UNESCO Convention. This protects
the world’s cultural and heritage site in 1972.
Model Town Park
Model Town Park also known as Nawaz Sharif Park is a family park with a golf
course situated in Model Town, Lahore, Pakistan. It was developed in 1990 by the
Punjab Governor, General ® Ghulam Jilani Khan. The park has a 2.5 km jogging
track. People from all walks of life come here for recreation.
Shahdara Bagh
Shahdara Bagh is located in the north of Lahore near River Ravi. This is the
first stop of Lahore Metrobus. The word shahdara is translated as the “way of
kings” in English. It was the entrance gate of Lahore and Mughal Emperor and
hosts several historic architectural sites.
It is also home to Akbari Sarai, the Tomb of Jahangir, the tomb of his
brother-in-law and his wife Nur Jahan. It is also home to Kamran’s Baradari. The
website was built on Ravi River bank, covering the site near the Ravi Bridge.
There is also a tomb of Mughal Princess Dohita un nissa Begum.
