Qatadah bin An-Nu'man narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: When Allah loves a slave, He prevents him from the world, just as one of you prevents his sick from water.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفَرْوِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا حَمَاهُ الدُّنْيَا كَمَا يَظَلُّ أَحَدُكُمْ يَحْمِي سَقِيمَهُ الْمَاءَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأُمِّ الْمُنْذِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلًا

قتادہ بن نعمان رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب اللہ تعالیٰ کسی بندے سے محبت کرتا ہے تو اسے دنیا سے اسی طرح بچاتا ہے، جس طرح تم میں سے کوئی آدمی اپنے بیمار کو پانی سے بچاتا ہے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ۲- یہ حدیث محمود بن لبید کے واسطہ سے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرسل طریقہ سے آئی ہے، ۳- اس باب میں صہیب اور ام منذر رضی الله عنہما سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔
