حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْمَكِّيُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَدَنِيُّ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عُبَادَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْهُمْ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَغَيْرُهُمْ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ لَا تُجْزِئُ صَلَاةٌ إِلَّا بِقِرَاءَةِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ:‏‏‏‏ كُلُّ صَلَاةٍ لَمْ يُقْرَأْ فِيهَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ غَيْرُ تَمَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالشَّافِعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سَمِعْت ابْنَ أَبِي عُمَرَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اخْتَلَفْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ سَنَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ أَكْبَرَ مِنِّي بِسَنَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وسَمِعْت ابْنَ أَبِي عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ حَجَجْتُ سَبْعِينَ حَجَّةً مَاشِيًا عَلَى قَدَمَيَّ.

Urdu Translation

عبادہ بن صامت رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اس کی نماز نہیں جس نے سورۃ فاتحہ نہیں پڑھی“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- عبادہ بن صامت کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابوہریرہ، عائشہ، انس، ابوقتادہ اور عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- صحابہ کرام میں سے اکثر اہل علم جن میں عمر بن خطاب، علی بن ابی طالب، جابر بن عبداللہ اور عمران بن حصین وغیرہم رضی الله عنہم شامل ہیں کا اسی پر عمل ہے۔ ان لوگوں کا کہنا ہے کہ سورۃ فاتحہ پڑھے بغیر نماز کفایت نہیں کرتی، علی بن ابی طالب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں: جس نماز میں سورۃ فاتحہ نہیں پڑھی گئی وہ ناقص اور ناتمام ہے۔ یہی ابن مبارک، شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی کہتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Ubadah bin As-Samil narrated that : the Prophet said: There is no Salat for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab.
