حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ يُغَيِّرُ الِاسْمَ الْقَبِيحَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ.

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم برا نام بدل دیا کرتے تھے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: اس حدیث کے راوی ابوبکر بن نافع کہتے ہیں کہ کبھی تو عمر بن علی ( الفلاس ) نے اس حدیث کی سند میں کہا: «هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم» یعنی مرسلاً روایت کی اور اس میں «عن عائشة» کے واسطہ کا ذکر نہیں کیا۔

English Translation

Narrated 'Aishah: that the Prophet (ﷺ) would change offensive names. Abu Bakr bin Nafi said: Sometimes 'Umar bin 'Ali would narrated this Hadith: Hisham bin 'Urwah from his father, from the Prophet (ﷺ),' in Mursal form, and he would not mention 'from 'Aishah' in it.
