حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَالَسْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَتَنَاشَدُونَ الشِّعْرَ وَيَتَذَاكَرُونَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ سَاكِتٌ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ مَعَهُمْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكٍ أَيْضًا.

Urdu Translation

جابر بن سمرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   مجھے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ سو بار سے زیادہ بیٹھنے کا شرف حاصل ہے، آپ کے صحابہ شعر پڑھتے ( سنتے و سناتے ) تھے، اور جاہلیت کی بہت سی باتیں باہم ذکر کرتے تھے۔ آپ چپ بیٹھے رہتے اور کبھی کبھی ان کے ساتھ مسکرانے لگتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اسے زہیر بھی نے سماک سے روایت کیا ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Jabir bin Samurah: I sat with the Prophet (ﷺ) more than one-hundred times. His Companions used to recite poetry and talk about things that occurred during Jahiliyyah, and he would remain silent, and sometimes he would smile along with them.
