حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سورة النساء آية 95، ‏‏‏‏‏‏جَاءَ عَمْرُو ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَكَانَ ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا تَأْمُرُنِي إِنِّي ضَرِيرُ الْبَصَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ:‏‏‏‏ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ سورة النساء آية 95، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِيتُونِي بِالْكَتِفِ وَالدَّوَاةِ أَوِ اللَّوْحِ وَالدَّوَاةِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُقَالُ عَمْرُو ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُقَالُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَائِدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأُمُّ مَكْتُومٍ أُمُّهُ.

Urdu Translation

براء بن عازب رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   جب آیت «لا يستوي القاعدون من المؤمنين» ”اپنی جانوں اور مالوں سے اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرنے والے مومن اور بیٹھے رہ جانے والے مومن برابر نہیں“ ( النساء: ۹۵ ) نازل ہوئی تو عمرو بن ام مکتوم نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، وہ نابینا تھے، انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ مجھے کیا حکم فرماتے ہیں، میں تو اندھا ہوں؟ تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے آیت: «غير أولي الضرر» نازل فرمائی، یعنی مریض اور معذور لوگوں کو چھوڑ کر، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میرے پاس شانہ کی ہڈی اور دوات لے آؤ ( یا یہ کہا ) تختی اور دوات لے آؤ کہ میں لکھا کر دے دوں کہ تم معذور لوگوں میں سے ہو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس روایت میں عمرو بن ام مکتوم رضی الله عنہ کہا گیا ہے، انہیں عبداللہ بن ام مکتوم بھی کہا جاتا ہے، وہ عبداللہ بن زائدہ ہیں، اور ام مکتوم ان کی ماں ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Al-Bara bin 'Azib: When the following was revealed: 'Not equal are those of the believers who sit (4:95)' 'Amr bin Umm Maktum came to the Prophet (ﷺ). He said: He was blind, so he said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What do you order me with? Indeed my vision is disabled.' So Allah [Most High] revealed this Ayah: 'Except those who are disabled.' So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Bring me a shoulder bone and inkwell' - or 'Bring me a tablet and an inkwell.'
