حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الثَّقَفِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الْأَنْمَارِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَةً سورة المجادلة آية 12 قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا تَرَى دِينَارًا ؟ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يُطِيقُونَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَنِصْفُ دِينَارٍ ؟ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يُطِيقُونَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَكَمْ ؟ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ شَعِيرَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّكَ لَزَهِيدٌ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَنَزَلَتْ:‏‏‏‏ ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَنْ تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَاتٍ سورة المجادلة آية 13 الْآيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَبِي خَفَّفَ اللَّهُ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّمَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ شَعِيرَةٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَعْنِي وَزْنَ شَعِيرَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو الْجَعْدِ اسْمُهُ رَافِعٌ.

Urdu Translation

علی بن ابی طالب رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ جب آیت کریمہ: «يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا ناجيتم الرسول فقدموا بين يدي نجواكم صدقة» ”اے ایمان والو! جب رسول اللہ ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) سے سرگوشی کرنا چاہو تو اپنی سرگوشی سے پہلے کچھ صدقہ دے دیا کرو“ ( المجادلہ: ۱۲ ) ، نازل ہوئی تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے پوچھا: ”تمہاری کیا رائے ہے، ایک دینار صدقہ مقرر کر دوں؟“ میں نے کہا: لوگ اس کی طاقت نہیں رکھتے، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تو کیا آدھا دینار مقرر کر دوں؟ میں نے کہا: اس کی بھی طاقت نہیں رکھتے“، آپ نے فرمایا: ”پھر کتنا کر دوں؟“ میں نے کہا: ایک جو کر دیں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم تو بالکل ہی گھٹا دینے والے نکلے“، اس پر یہ آیت نازل ہوئی «أأشفقتم أن تقدموا بين يدي نجواكم صدقات» ”کیا تم اس حکم سے ڈر گئے کہ تم اپنی سرگوشی سے پہلے صدقے دے دیا کرو“ ( المجادلہ: ۱۳ ) ، علی رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں: اللہ نے میری وجہ سے فضل فرما کر اس امت کے معاملے میں تخفیف فرما دی ( یعنی اس حکم کو منسوخ کر دیا ) ۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے اور ہم اسے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں، ۲- علی رضی الله عنہ کے قول «شعيرة» سے مراد ایک جو کے برابر ہے۔

English Translation

Ali bin Abi Talib said: “When (the following) was revealed: ‘O you who believe! When you consult the Messenger in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation.’ The Prophet said to me: ‘What do you think? A dinar?’ I said: ‘They will not be able to.’ He said: ‘Then half a Dinar?’ I said: ‘They will not be able.’ He said: ‘Then how much?’ I said ‘A barely corn.’ He said: ‘You made it too little.’” He said: “So the Ayah was revealed: ‘Are you afraid of spending in charity before your private consultation?’ He said: “It was about my case for which Allah lightened the burden upon this Ummah.”
