حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَا وَالزُّبَيْرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمِقْدَادَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ انْطَلِقُوا حَتَّى تَأْتُوا رَوْضَةَ خَاخٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ فِيهَا ظَعِينَةً مَعَهَا كِتَابٌ فَخُذُوهُ مِنْهَا فَأْتُونِي بِهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجْنَا تَتَعَادَى بِنَا خَيْلُنَا حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا الرَّوْضَةَ فَإِذَا نَحْنُ بِالظَّعِينَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ أَخْرِجِي الْكِتَابَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ مَا مَعِي مِنْ كِتَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ لَتُخْرِجِنَّ الْكِتَابَ أَوْ لَتُلْقِيَنَّ الثِّيَابَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَخْرَجَتْهُ مِنْ عِقَاصِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَتَيْنَا بِهِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا هُوَ مِنْ حَاطِبِ بْنِ أَبِي بَلْتَعَةَ إِلَى نَاسٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ بِمَكَّةَ يُخْبِرُهُمْ بِبَعْضِ أَمْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا يَا حَاطِبُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنِّي كُنْتُ امْرَأً مُلْصَقًا فِي قُرَيْشٍ وَلَمْ أَكُنْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ مَنْ مَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ لَهُمْ قَرَابَاتٌ يَحْمُونَ بِهَا أَهْلِيهِمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ بِمَكَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَحْبَبْتُ إِذْ فَاتَنِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ نَسَبٍ فِيهِمْ أَنْ أَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمْ يَدًا يَحْمُونَ بِهَا قَرَابَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ كُفْرًا وَلَا ارْتِدَادًا عَنْ دِينِي وَلَا رِضًا بِالْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ الْإِسْلَامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ صَدَقَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ:‏‏‏‏ دَعْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَضْرِبْ عُنُقَ هَذَا الْمُنَافِقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ اللَّهَ اطَّلَعَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ فَقَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَكُمْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِيهِ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا عَدُوِّي وَعَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ السُّورَةَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ عَمْرٌو:‏‏‏‏ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ كَاتِبًا لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ. هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِيهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏نَحْوَ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَذَكَرُوا هَذَا الْحَرْفَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ لَتُخْرِجِنَّ الْكِتَابَ أَوْ لَتُلْقِيَنَّ الثِّيَابَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ أَيْضًا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ نَحْوَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ذَكَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَتُخْرِجِنَّ الْكِتَابَ أَوْ لَنُجَرِّدَنَّكِ.

Urdu Translation

عبیداللہ بن ابورافع کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے علی رضی الله عنہ کو کہتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے زبیر اور مقداد بن اسود کو بھیجا، فرمایا: جاؤ، روضہ خاخ ۱؎ پر پہنچو وہاں ایک ھودج سوار عورت ہے، اس کے پاس ایک خط ہے، وہ خط جا کر اس سے لے لو، اور میرے پاس لے آؤ، چنانچہ ہم نکل پڑے، ہمارے گھوڑے ہمیں لیے لیے دوڑ میں ایک دوسرے سے آگے بڑھ جانے کی کوشش کر رہے تھے، ہم روضہ پہنچے، ہمیں ہودج سوار عورت مل گئی، ہم نے اس سے کہا: خط نکال، اس نے کہا: ہمارے پاس کوئی خط نہیں ہے، ہم نے کہا: خط نکالتی ہے یا پھر اپنے کپڑے اتارتی ہے؟ ( یہ سن کر ) اپنی چوٹی ( جوڑے ) سے اس نے خط نکالا، ہم اسے لے کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آ گئے، وہ خط حاطب بن ابی بلتعہ رضی الله عنہ کی جانب سے تھا، مکہ کے کچھ مشرکین کے پاس بھیجا گیا تھا، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے بعض اقدامات کی انہیں خبر دی گئی تھی، آپ نے فرمایا: ”حاطب! یہ کیا ہے؟“ انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! ہمارے خلاف حکم فرمانے میں جلدی نہ کریں، میں ایک ایسا شخص تھا جو قریش کے ساتھ مل جل کر رہتا تھا، لیکن ( خاندانی طور پر ) قریشی نہ تھا، باقی جو مہاجرین آپ کے ساتھ تھے ان کی وہاں رشتہ داریاں تھیں جس کی وجہ سے وہ رشتہ دار مکہ میں ان کے گھر والوں اور ان کے مالوں کی حفاظت و حمایت کرتے تھے، میں نے مناسب سمجھا کہ جب ہمارا ان سے کوئی خاندانی و نسبی تعلق نہیں ہے تو میں ان پر احسان کر کے کسی کا ہاتھ پکڑ لوں جس کی وجہ سے یہ اہل مکہ ہمارے گھر اور رشتہ داروں کی حفاظت و حمایت کریں، میں نے ایسا کفر اختیار کر لینے یا اپنے دین سے مرتد ہو جانے یا کفر کو پسند کر لینے کی وجہ سے نہیں کیا ہے، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”حاطب نے سچ اور ( صحیح ) بات کہی ہے“، عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! مجھے اجازت دیجئیے، میں اس منافق کی گردن مار دوں، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”یہ جنگ بدر میں موجود رہے ہیں، تمہیں معلوم نہیں، یقیناً اللہ نے بدر والوں کی حالت ( یعنی ان کے جذبہ جاں فروشی ) کو دیکھ کر کہہ دیا ہے: جو چاہو کرو ہم نے تمہارے گناہ بخش دیئے ہیں“، اسی سلسلے میں یہ پوری سورۃ «يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا عدوي وعدوكم أولياء» ”اے لوگو! جو ایمان لائے ہو، میرے اور اپنے دشمنوں کو دوست نہ بناؤ، تم انہیں دوستی کا پیغام بھیجتے ہو“ ( الممتحنۃ: ۱ ) ، آخر تک نازل ہوئی۔ عمرو ( راوی حدیث ) کہتے ہیں: میں نے عبیداللہ بن ابی رافع کو دیکھا ہے، وہ علی رضی الله عنہ کے کاتب ( محرر ) تھے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اسی طرح کئی ایک نے یہ حدیث سفیان بن عیینہ سے روایت کی ہے، اور ان سبھوں نے بھی یہی لفظ ذکر کیا ہے کہ علی اور زبیر رضی الله عنہما وغیرہ نے کہا: تمہیں خط نکال کر دینا ہو گا، ورنہ پھر تمہیں کپڑے اتارنے پڑیں گے، ۳- ابوعبدالرحمٰن السلمی سے بھی یہ حدیث مروی ہوئی ہے، انہوں نے علی رضی الله عنہ سے اسی حدیث کے مانند روایت کیا ہے، ۴- اس باب میں عمر اور جابر بن عبداللہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔ اور بعضوں نے ذکر کیا کہ انہوں نے کہا کہ تو خط نکال دے ورنہ ہم تجھے ننگا کر دیں گے۔

English Translation

Al-Hasan bin Muhammad – and he is Al-Hanafiyyah- narrated from Ubaidallah bin Abi Rafi who said: “I heard Ali bin Abi Talib saying: “the Messenger of Allah dispatched us – myself, Az-Zubair, and Al-Miqad bin Al- Aswad. He said: “Proceed until you reach Rawdah Khakh, where there is a lady carrying a letter. Take the letter from her and bring it to me.” So we proceeded on our way with our horses galloping until we reached the Rawdah. There we found the lady and said to her: “Give me the letter.” She said: “I have no letter.” We said: “Either you take out the letter, or we shall take off your clothes.’” He said: ‘So she took it out of her braid.’ He said: ‘We brought it to the Messenger of Allah, and it was from Hatib bin Abi Balta’ah, addressed to some of people among the idolaters of Makkah, infrmed them of some matter regarding the Prophet. So he said: “What is this O Hatib?” He said: “Do not be hasty with me O Messenger of Allah! I was a person who is an ally to the Quraish, not being related to them. The Muhajirun who are with you have relatives who can protect their families and their wealth in Makkah. So since I have no lineage among them, I wanted to do them a favor, so they might protect my relatives. I did not do this out of disbelief, nor to renegade from my religion, nor did I do it to chose disbelief [after Islam].” The Prophet said: “He said the truth.” Umar bin Al-Khattab said: “Allow me to chop off the head of this hypocrite!” The Prophet said: “Indeed he participated in (the battle of) Badr. You do not know, perhaps Allah looked at those who attended Badr and said: ‘O people of Badr! Do as you like, for I have forgiven you.’” He said: ‘It was about him, that this Surah was revealed: O you who believe! Do not take My enemies and your enemies as protecting friends showing affection towards them.’”
