حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ شَهْرَ بْنَ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَتْنَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةُ، قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ النِّسْوَةِ:‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا الْمَعْرُوفُ الَّذِي لَا يَنْبَغِي لَنَا أَنْ نَعْصِيَكَ فِيهِ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَنُحْنَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ بَنِي فُلَانٍ قَدْ أَسْعَدُونِي عَلَى عَمِّي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا بُدَّ لِي مِنْ قَضَائِهِنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى عَلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَعَاتَبْتُهُ مِرَارًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَذِنَ لِي فِي قَضَائِهِنَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمْ أَنُحْ بَعْدَ قَضَائِهِنَّ وَلَا عَلَى غَيْرِهِ حَتَّى السَّاعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَبْقَ مِنَ النِّسْوَةِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَّا وَقَدْ نَاحَتْ غَيْرِي. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِيهِ عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ:‏‏‏‏ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةُ هِيَ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ السَّكَنِ.

Urdu Translation

ام سلمہ انصاریہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   عورتوں میں سے ایک عورت نے عرض کیا: ( اللہ کے رسول! ) اس معروف سے کیا مراد ہے جس میں ہمیں آپ کی نافرمانی نہیں کرنی چاہیئے، آپ نے فرمایا: ”وہ یہی ہے کہ تم ( کسی کے مرنے پر ) نوحہ مت کرو“، میں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! فلاں قبیلے کی عورتوں نے نوحہ کرنے میں میری مدد کی تھی جب میں نے اپنے چچا پر نوحہ کیا تھا، اس لیے میرے لیے ضروری ہے کہ جب ان کے نوحہ کرنے کا وقت آئے تو میں ان کے ساتھ نوحہ میں شریک ہو کر اس کا بدلہ چکاؤں، آپ نے انکار کیا، ( مجھے اجازت نہ دی ) میں نے کئی بار آپ سے اپنی عرض دہرائی تو آپ نے مجھے ان کا بدلہ چکا دینے کی اجازت دے دی، اس بدلہ کے چکا دینے کے بعد پھر میں نے نہ ان پر اور نہ ہی کسی اور پر اب قیامت تک نوحہ ( جبکہ ) میرے سوا کوئی عورت ایسی باقی نہیں ہے جس نے نوحہ نہ کیا ہو ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ام عطیہ رضی الله عنہا سے بھی روایت ہے، ۳- عبد بن حمید کہتے ہیں، ام سلمہ انصاریہ ہی اسماء بنت یزید بن السکن ہیں رضی الله عنہا۔

English Translation

Shahr bin Hawshab said: “Umm Salamah Al-Ansariyyah narrated to us, she said: ‘A woman said: “What is this Ma’ruf for which we are not to disobey in?” He (pbuh) said: “[That you not wail.]” I said: “O Messenger of Allah! Verily Banu so-and-so comforted me in the case of my uncle, and I must reciprocate for them.’ But he refused to allow me. So I asked him again numerous times, then he permitted me to reciprocate for them. So after reciprocating for the, I did not wail for anyone else until this time. And there does not remain a woman except that she has wailed besides me.’”
