حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ابْنُ أُخْتِ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَابِطٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِدُعَاءٍ كَثِيرٍ لَمْ نَحْفَظْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏دَعَوْتَ بِدُعَاءٍ كَثِيرِ لَمْ نَحْفَظْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى مَا يَجْمَعُ ذَلِكَ كُلَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا سَأَلَكَ مِنْهُ نَبِيُّكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا اسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ نَبِيُّكَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنْتَ الْمُسْتَعَانُ وَعَلَيْكَ الْبَلَاغُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.

Urdu Translation

ابوامامہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بہت ساری دعائیں کیں، مگر مجھے ان میں سے کوئی دعا یاد نہ رہی، میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! دعائیں تو آپ نے بہت سی کیں مگر میں کوئی دعا یاد نہ رکھ سکا، آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا میں تمہیں ایسی چیز نہ بتا دوں جو ان سب چیزوں ( دعاؤں ) کی جامع ہو، کہو: «اللهم إنا نسألك من خير ما سألك منه نبيك محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ونعوذ بك من شر ما استعاذ منه نبيك محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وأنت المستعان وعليك البلاغ ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله» ”اے اللہ! ہم تجھ سے وہ بھلائی ( خیر ) مانگتے ہیں جو تجھ سے تیرے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مانگی ہے اور ہم تیری پناہ چاہتے ہیں اس شر ( برائی ) سے جس سے تیرے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پناہ مانگی ہے، تو ہی مددگار ہے، اور تیرے ہی اختیار میں ہے ( خیر و شر کا ) پہچانا، اور گناہ سے بچنے کی طاقت اور عبادت کرنے کی قوت اللہ کے سہارے کے بغیر ممکن نہیں ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے۔

English Translation

Abu Umamah narrated: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) supplicated with many supplications of which we did not preserve a thing. We said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you supplicated with many supplications of which we did not preserve a thing.’ He (ﷺ) said: ‘Should I not direct you to what will include all of that? That you say: O Allah, we ask You from the good of what Your Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) asked You for, and we seek refuge in You from the evil of that which Your Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) sought refuge in You from, and You are the one from Whom aid is sought, and it is for You to fulfill, and there is no might or power except by Allah (Allāhumma innā nas’aluka min khairi mā sa’alaka minhu nabiyyuka Muḥammad, ṣallallāhu `alaihi wa sallam, wa na`ūdhu bika min sharri masta`ādha minhu nabiyyuka Muḥammad, ṣallallāhu `alaihi wa sallam, wa antal-musta`ānu wa `alaikal-balāgh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh).’”
