حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ جَوَّابٍ أَبُو الْجَوَّابِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَيْشَيْنِ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَمَّرَ عَلَى أَحَدِهِمَا عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلَى الْآخَرِ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا كَانَ الْقِتَالُ فَعَلِيٌّ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَافْتَتَحَ عَلِيٌّ حِصْنًا فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ جَارِيَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَتَبَ مَعِي خَالِدٌ كِتَابًا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشِي بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَأَ الْكِتَابَ فَتَغَيَّرَ لَوْنُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا تَرَى فِي رَجُلٍ يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ،‏‏‏‏ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ غَضَبِ اللَّهِ وَغَضَبِ رَسُولِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا رَسُولٌ فَسَكَتَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

Urdu Translation

براء رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو لشکر بھیجے اور ان دونوں میں سے ایک کا امیر علی بن ابی طالب رضی الله عنہ کو اور دوسرے کا خالد بن ولید رضی الله عنہ کو بنایا اور فرمایا: ”جب لڑائی ہو تو علی امیر رہیں گے چنانچہ علی رضی الله عنہ نے ایک قلعہ فتح کیا اور اس سے ( مال غنیمت میں سے ) ایک لونڈی لے لی، تو میرے ساتھ خالد رضی الله عنہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو ایک خط لکھ کر بھیجا جس میں وہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے علی رضی الله عنہ کی شکایت کر رہے تھے، وہ کہتے ہیں: چنانچہ میں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا آپ نے خط پڑھا تو آپ کا رنگ متغیر ہو گیا پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم کیا چاہتے ہو ایک ایسے شخص کے سلسلے میں جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے محبت رکھتا ہے اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول اس سے محبت کرتے ہیں“، وہ کہتے ہیں: میں نے عرض کیا: میں اللہ اور اس کے رسول کے غضب سے اللہ کی پناہ چاہتا ہوں، میں تو صرف ایک قاصد ہوں، پھر آپ خاموش ہو گئے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Al-Bara: The Prophet (ﷺ) dispatched two armies and put 'Ali bin Abi Talib in charge of one of them, and Khalid bin Al-Walid in charge of the other. He said: When there is fighting, then (the leader is) 'Ali. He said: So 'Ali conquered a fortress and took a slave girl. So Khalid sent me with a letter to the Prophet (ﷺ) complaining about him. So I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he read the letter and his color changed, then he said: 'What is your view concerning one who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him.' He said: I said: 'I seek refuge in Allah from the wrath of Allah and the anger of His Messenger, and I am but a Messenger.' So he became silent.
