حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُؤَمَّلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى فِي بَيْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ مِصْبَاحًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا عَائِشَةُ مَا أُرَى أَسْمَاءَ إِلَّا قَدْ نُفِسَتْ،‏‏‏‏ فَلَا تُسَمُّوهُ حَتَّى أُسَمِّيَهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَمَّاهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ وَحَنَّكَهُ بِتَمْرَةٍ بِيَدِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ( خواب میں ) زبیر کے گھر میں ایک چراغ دیکھا تو آپ نے عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے فرمایا: ”عائشہ! میں یہی سمجھا ہوں کہ اسماء کے یہاں ولادت ہونے والی ہے، تو اس کا نام تم لوگ نہ رکھنا، میں رکھوں گا“، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کا نام عبداللہ رکھا، اور اپنے ہاتھ سے ایک کھجور کے ذریعہ ان کی تحنیک کی ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaikah: from 'Aishah, that the Prophet (ﷺ) saw a lamp in the house of Az-Zubair, so he said: O 'Aishah, I do not think except that Asma has given birth, so do not name him until I should name him. So he named him 'Abdullah, and he (performed Tahnik) with a date that was in his hand.
