حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عِيَاضٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ هِلَالٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَحَدُنَا يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَدْرِي كَيْفَ صَلَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَيْفَ صَلَّى فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عُثْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْوَاحِدَةِ وَالثِّنْتَيْنِ فَلْيَجْعَلْهُمَا وَاحِدَةً وَإِذَا شَكَّ فِي الثِّنْتَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثِ فَلْيَجْعَلْهُمَا ثِنْتَيْنِ وَيَسْجُدْ فِي ذَلِكَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَصْحَابِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا شَكَّ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمْ يَدْرِ كَمْ صَلَّى فَلْيُعِدْ.

Urdu Translation

عیاض یعنی ابن ہلال کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنہ سے کہا: ہم میں سے کوئی نماز پڑھتا ہے اور یہ نہیں جانتا کہ اس نے کتنی رکعت پڑھی ہیں ( یا وہ کیا کرے؟ ) تو ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنہ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: ”جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص نماز پڑھے اور یہ نہ جان سکے کہ کتنی پڑھی ہے؟ تو وہ بیٹھے بیٹھے سہو کے دو سجدے کر لے“۔ ( یقینی بات پر بنا کرنے کے بعد ) امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ا- ابوسعید رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عثمان، ابن مسعود، عائشہ، ابوہریرہ وغیرہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- یہ حدیث ابوسعید سے دیگر کئی سندوں سے بھی مروی ہے، ۴- نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہ بھی مروی ہے کہ آپ نے فرمایا: ”جب تم سے کسی کو ایک اور دو میں شک ہو جائے تو اسے ایک ہی مانے اور جب دو اور تین میں شک ہو تو اسے دو مانے اور سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے سہو کے دو سجدے کرے“۔ اسی پر ہمارے اصحاب ( محدثین ) کا عمل ہے ۱؎ اور بعض اہل علم کہتے ہیں کہ جب کسی کو اپنی نماز میں شبہ ہو جائے اور وہ نہ جان سکے کہ اس نے کتنی رکعت پڑھی ہیں؟ تو وہ پھر سے لوٹائے ۲؎۔

English Translation

Iyad bin Hilal said: I said to Abu Sa'eed: 'One of us performs Salat and we do not know how (much) we prayed.' So he said: 'Allah's Messenger (S) said: When one of you performs Salat and he does now know how (much) he prayed then let him perform two prostrations while he is sitting.
