حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ هُوَ:‏‏‏‏ الْعَقَدِيُّ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُنَّ بِالتَّسْلِيمِ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ وَمَنْ تَبِعَهُمْ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنِينَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍوَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عَلِيٍّ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَارَ إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَنْ لَا يُفْصَلَ فِي الْأَرْبَعِ قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ وَاحْتَجَّ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ إِسْحَاق:‏‏‏‏ وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ أَنَّهُ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُنَّ بِالتَّسْلِيمِ يَعْنِي التَّشَهُّدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَأَى الشافعي،‏‏‏‏ وَأَحْمَدُ صَلَاةَ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى يَخْتَارَانِ الْفَصْلَ فِي الْأَرْبَعِ قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ.

Urdu Translation

علی رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عصر سے پہلے چار رکعتیں پڑھتے تھے، اور ان کے درمیان: مقرب فرشتوں اور ان مسلمانوں اور مومنوں پر کہ جنہوں نے ان کی تابعداری کی ان پر سلام کے ذریعہ فصل کرتے تھے ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- علی رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن ہے۔ ۲- اس باب میں ابن عمر اور عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔ اسحاق بن ابراہیم ( ابن راہویہ ) نے عصر سے پہلے کی چار رکعتوں میں فصل نہ کرنے کو ترجیح دی ہے، اور انہوں نے اسی حدیث سے استدلال کیا ہے۔ اسحاق کہتے ہیں: ان کے ( علی کے ) قول ”سلام کے ذریعے ان کے درمیان فصل کرنے“ کے معنی یہ ہیں کہ آپ دو رکعت کے بعد تشہد پڑھتے تھے، اور شافعی اور احمد کی رائے ہے کہ رات اور دن کی نماز دو دو رکعت ہے اور وہ دونوں عصر سے پہلے کی چار رکعتوں میں سلام کے ذریعہ فصل کرنے کو پسند کرتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Ali narrated: Allah's Messenger (S) would pray four Rak'ah before Al-Asr separating between them with At-Taslim upon the angels that are close (to Allah) and those who follow them among the Muslims and the believers.
