حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاق الْمَكِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ مُعَاذًا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّكَ تَأْتِي قَوْمًا 5 أَهْلَ كِتَابٍ 5 فَادْعُهُمْ إِلَى شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ هُمْ أَطَاعُوا لِذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَعْلِمْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ افْتَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ هُمْ أَطَاعُوا لِذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَعْلِمْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ افْتَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَدَقَةً فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تُؤْخَذُ مِنْ أَغْنِيَائِهِمْ وَتُرَدُّ عَلَى فُقَرَائِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ هُمْ أَطَاعُوا لِذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِيَّاكَ وَكَرَائِمَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاتَّقِ دَعْوَةَ الْمَظْلُومِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّهَا لَيْسَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ اللَّهِ حِجَابٌ . وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو مَعْبَدٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ اسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ نَافِذٌ.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے معاذ رضی الله عنہ کو یمن ( کی طرف اپنا عامل بنا کر ) بھیجا اور ان سے فرمایا: ”تم اہل کتاب کی ایک جماعت کے پاس جا رہے ہو، تم انہیں دعوت دینا کہ وہ اس بات کی گواہی دیں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں اور یہ کہ میں اللہ کا رسول ہوں، اگر وہ اس کو مان لیں تو انہیں بتانا کہ اللہ نے ان پر رات اور دن میں پانچ وقت کی نماز فرض کی ہے، اگر وہ اسے مان لیں تو انہیں بتانا کہ اللہ نے ان کے مال میں زکاۃ فرض کی ہے، جو ان کے مالداروں سے لی جائے گی اور ان کے فقراء و مساکین کو لوٹا دی جائے گی ۱؎، اگر وہ اسے مان لیں تو تم ان کے عمدہ مال لینے سے اپنے آپ کو بچانا اور مظلوم کی بد دعا سے بچنا، اس لیے کہ اس کے اور اللہ کے درمیان کوئی پردہ حائل نہیں ہوتا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں صنابحی رضی الله عنہ ۲؎ سے بھی روایت ہے۔

English Translation

Ibn Abbas narrated that : the Messenger of Allah sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said to him: You are going to a people from the People of the Book, so invite them to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah. If they comply with that, then inform them that Allah has made five prayers obligatory upon them in a day and a night. If they comply with that, then inform then that Allah has ordained a charity upon their wealth, which is to be taken from the rich among them and given to the poor among them. If they comply with that, then beware of their most precious wealth, and protect yourself from the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah.
