حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا سَعَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ لِيُرِيَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قُوَّتَهُ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَسْتَحِبُّهُ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْعَ وَمَشَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ رَأَوْهُ جَائِزًا.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بیت اللہ کا طواف کیا اور صفا اور مروہ کے درمیان سعی کی، تاکہ مشرکین کو اپنی قوت دکھا سکیں۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عائشہ، ابن عمر اور جابر رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اہل علم اسی کو مستحب سمجھتے ہیں کہ آدمی صفا و مروہ کے درمیان سعی کرے، اگر وہ سعی نہ کرے بلکہ صفا و مروہ کے درمیان عام چال چلے تو اسے جائز سمجھتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Ibn Abbas narrated: The Messenger of Allah only performed the Sa'i of the House and of As-Safa and Al-Marwah to show his strength to the idolaters.
