حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْعُمْرَةِ أَوَاجِبَةٌ هِيَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنْ تَعْتَمِرُوا هُوَ أَفْضَلُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ الْعُمْرَةُ لَيْسَتْ بِوَاجِبَةٍ. وَكَانَ يُقَالُ:‏‏‏‏ هُمَا حَجَّانِ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَجُّ الْأَكْبَرُ يَوْمُ النَّحْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْحَجُّ الْأَصْغَرُ الْعُمْرَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ الْعُمْرَةُ سُنَّةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَخَّصَ فِي تَرْكِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَيْسَ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ ثَابِتٌ بِأَنَّهَا تَطَوُّعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِإِسْنَادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ لَا تَقُومُ بِمِثْلِهِ الْحُجَّةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ بَلَغَنَا عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُوجِبُهَا. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ كُلُّهُ كَلَامُ الشَّافِعِيِّ.

Urdu Translation

جابر رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عمرے کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا: کیا یہ واجب ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”نہیں، لیکن عمرہ کرنا بہتر ہے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اور یہی بعض اہل علم کا قول ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ عمرہ واجب نہیں ہے، ۳- اور یہ بھی کہا جاتا ہے کہ حج دو ہیں: ایک حج اکبر ہے جو یوم نحر ( دسویں ذی الحجہ کو ) ہوتا ہے اور دوسرا حج اصغر ہے جسے عمرہ کہتے ہیں، ۴- شافعی کہتے ہیں: عمرہ ( کا وجوب ) سنت سے ثابت ہے، ہم کسی ایسے شخص کو نہیں جانتے جس نے اسے چھوڑنے کی اجازت دی ہو۔ اور اس کے نفل ہونے کے سلسلے میں کوئی چیز ثابت نہیں ہے۔ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے جس سند سے ( نفل ہونا ) مروی ہے وہ ضعیف ہے۔ اس جیسی حدیث سے حجت نہیں پکڑی جا سکتی، اور ہم تک یہ بات بھی پہنچی ہے کہ ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما اسے واجب قرار دیتے تھے۔ یہ سب شافعی کا کلام ہے۔

English Translation

Jabir narrated that: The Prophet was asked about whether Umrah was obligatory? He said: No. But if you perform Umrah it is more virtuous.
