Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: The people used to offer the prayer with the Prophet with their waist-sheets tied round their necks because of the shortness of the sheets and the women were ordered not to lift their heads till the men had sat straight.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : كَانَ النَّاسُ يُصَلُّونَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُمْ عَاقِدُو أُزْرِهِمْ مِنَ الصِّغَرِ عَلَى رِقَابِهِمْ ، فَقِيلَ لِلنِّسَاءِ : لَا تَرْفَعْنَ رُءُوسَكُنَّ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ الرِّجَالُ جُلُوسًا .

ہم سے محمد بن کثیر نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم کو سفیان ثوری نے خبر دی، انہیں ابوحازم نے، ان کو سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے بتلایا کہ   لوگ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ نماز اس طرح پڑھتے کہ تہبند چھوٹے ہونے کی وجہ سے انہیں اپنی گردنوں سے باندھے رکھتے اور عورتوں کو ( جو مردوں کے پیچھے جماعت میں شریک رہتی تھیں ) کہہ دیا جاتا کہ جب تک مرد پوری طرح سمٹ کر نہ بیٹھ جائیں تم اپنے سر ( سجدے سے ) نہ اٹھانا۔
