Baab Rozay Ke Masail Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاصَلَ ، فَوَاصَلَ النَّاسُ ، فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَنَهَاهُمْ ، قَالُوا : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ، قَالَ : لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے جویریہ نے، ان سے نافع نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ”صوم وصال“ رکھا تو صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم نے بھی رکھا لیکن صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم کے لیے دشواری ہو گئی۔ اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے منع فرما دیا، صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم نے اس پر عرض کی کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم صوم وصال رکھتے ہیں؟ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا میں تمہاری طرح نہیں ہوں۔ میں تو برابر کھلایا اور پلایا جاتا ہوں۔

English Translation

Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet fasted for days continuously; the people also did the same but it was difficult for them. So, the Prophet forbade them (to fast continuously for more than one day). They slid, But you fast without break (no food was taken in the evening or in the morning). The Prophet replied, I am not like you, for I am provided with food and drink (by Allah).
