Baab Aitkaf Ke Masail Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ أَعْتَكِفَ لَيْلَةً فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَوْفِ نَذْرَكَ فَاعْتَكَفَ لَيْلَةً .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے اسماعیل بن عبداللہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے اپنے بھائی (عبدالحمید) سے، ان سے سلیمان نے، ان سے عبیداللہ بن عمر نے، ان سے نافع نے، ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ   انہوں نے پوچھا، یا رسول اللہ! میں نے جاہلیت میں نذر مانی تھی کہ ایک رات کا مسجد الحرام میں اعتکاف کروں گا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ پھر اپنی نذر پوری کر۔ چنانچہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایک رات بھر اعتکاف کیا۔

English Translation

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: `Umar bin Al-Khattab said, O Allah's Apostle! I vowed in the Pre-Islamic period to perform I`tikaf in Al-Masjid-al-Haram for one night. The Prophet said, Fulfill your vow. So, he performed I`tikaf for one night.
