حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ غُنْدَرٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُود إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدِ الْمَاءَ لَا يُصَلِّي ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : لَوْ رَخَّصْتُ لَهُمْ فِي هَذَا كَانَ إِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُهُمُ الْبَرْدَ ، قَالَ : هَكَذَا يَعْنِي تَيَمَّمَ وَصَلَّى ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : فَأَيْنَ قَوْلُ عَمَّارٍ لِعُمَرَ ؟ قَالَ : إِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ عُمَرَ قَنِعَ بِقَوْلِ عَمَّارٍ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے بشر بن خالد نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ کو محمد نے خبر دی جو غندر کے نام سے مشہور ہیں، شعبہ کے واسطہ سے، وہ سلیمان سے نقل کرتے ہیں اور وہ ابووائل سے کہ ابوموسیٰ نے عبداللہ بن مسعود سے کہا کہ   اگر ( غسل کی حاجت ہو اور ) پانی نہ ملے تو کیا نماز نہ پڑھی جائے۔ عبداللہ نے فرمایا، ہاں! اگر مجھے ایک مہینہ تک بھی پانی نہ ملے تو میں نماز نہ پڑھوں گا۔ اگر اس میں لوگوں کو اجازت دے دی جائے تو سردی معلوم کر کے بھی لوگ تیمم سے نماز پڑھ لیں گے۔ ابوموسیٰ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے کہا کہ پھر عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے سامنے عمار رضی اللہ عنہ کے قول کا کیا جواب ہو گا۔ بولے کہ مجھے تو نہیں معلوم ہے کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ عمار رضی اللہ عنہ کی بات سے مطمئن ہو گئے تھے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Wail: Abu Musa said to `Abdullah bin Mas`ud, If one does not find water (for ablution) can he give up the prayer? `Abdullah replied, If you give the permission to perform Tayammum they will perform Tayammum even if water was available if one of them found it cold. Abu Musa said, What about the statement of `Ammar to `Umar? `Abdullah replied, `Umar was not satisfied by his statement.
