حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مَنْجُوفٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيًّا إِلَى خَالِدٍ لِيَقْبِضَ الْخُمُسَ ، وَكُنْتُ أُبْغِضُ عَلِيًّا وَقَدِ اغْتَسَلَ ، فَقُلْتُ لِخَالِدٍ : أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى هَذَا ؟ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا بُرَيْدَةُ ، أَتُبْغِضُ عَلِيًّا ؟ فَقُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : لَا تُبْغِضْهُ ، فَإِنَّ لَهُ فِي الْخُمُسِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ .

Urdu Translation

مجھ سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے روح بن عبادہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے علی بن سوید بن منجوف نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبداللہ بن بریدہ نے اور ان سے ان کے والد (بریدہ بن حصیب) نے بیان کیا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ کی جگہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو ( یمن ) بھیجا تاکہ غنیمت کے خمس ( پانچواں حصہ ) کو ان سے لے آئیں۔ مجھے علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے بہت بغض تھا اور میں نے انہیں غسل کرتے دیکھا تھا۔ میں نے خالد رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا تم دیکھتے ہو علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کیا کیا ( اور ایک لونڈی سے صحبت کی ) پھر جب ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے تو میں نے آپ سے بھی اس کا ذکر کیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا ( بریدہ ) کیا تمہیں علی رضی اللہ عنہ کی طرف سے بغض ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ جی ہاں، فرمایا علی سے دشمنی نہ رکھنا کیونکہ خمس ( غنیمت کے پانچویں حصے ) میں اس سے بھی زیادہ حق ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Buraida: The Prophet sent `Ali to Khalid to bring the Khumus (of the booty) and I hated `Ali, and `Ali had taken a bath (after a sexual act with a slave-girl from the Khumus). I said to Khalid, Don't you see this (i.e. `Ali)? When we reached the Prophet I mentioned that to him. He said, O Buraida! Do you hate `Ali? I said, Yes. He said, Do you hate him, for he deserves more than that from the Khumlus.
