Narrated Ibn `Abbas: That was Mughith, the slave of Bani so-and-so, i.e., Barira's husband as if I am now looking at him following her (Barira) along the streets of Medina.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : ذَاكَ مُغِيثٌ عَبْدُ بَنِي فُلَانٍ يَعْنِي زَوْجَ بَرِيرَةَ ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ يَتْبَعُهَا فِي سِكَكِ الْمَدِينَةِ يَبْكِي عَلَيْهَا .

ہم سے عبدالاعلیٰ بن حماد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے وہیب بن خالد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ایوب نے بیان کیا، ان سے عکرمہ نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ   یہ مغیث بنی فلاں کے غلام تھے۔ آپ کا اشارہ بریرہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے شوہر کی طرف تھا۔ گویا اس وقت بھی میں انہیں دیکھ رہا ہوں کہ مدینہ کی گلیوں میں وہ بریرہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پیچھے پیچھے روتے پھر رہے ہیں۔
