Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, The heart of an old man remains young in two respects, i.e., his love for the world (its wealth, amusements and luxuries) and his incessant hope.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَفْوَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : لَا يَزَالُ قَلْبُ الْكَبِيرِ شَابًّا فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ : فِي حُبِّ الدُّنْيَا ، وَطُولِ الْأَمَلِ ، قَالَ اللَّيْثُ : حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ ، وَابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدٌ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ .

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ مدینی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ابوصفوان عبداللہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے یونس نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابن شہاب نے بیان کیا کہ ہم کو سعید بن مسیب نے خبر دی اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا، نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”بوڑھے انسان کا دل دو چیزوں کے بارے میں ہمیشہ جوان رہتا ہے، دنیا کی محبت اور زندگی کی لمبی امید۔“ لیث نے بیان کیا کہ مجھ سے یونس نے بیان کیا اور یونس نے ابن شہاب سے بیان کیا کہ مجھے سعید اور ابوسلمہ نے خبر دی۔
