حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَسَعِيدٍ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى

Urdu Translation

  حضرت حکیم بن حزام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روا یت ہے انھوں نے کہا میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ما نگا تو آپ نے مجھے عطا فر ما یا میں نے ( دوبارہ ) مانگا تو آپ نے مجھے دے دیا میں نے پھر آپ سے سوال کیا تو آپ نے مجھے دیا پھر فر ما یا : " یہ ما ل شاداب ( آنکھوں کو لبھا نے والا ) اور شیریں ہے جو تو اسے حرص و طمع کے بغیر لے گا اس کے لیے اس میں برکت عطا کی جا ئے گی اور جو دل کے حرص سے لے گا ، اس کے لیے اس میں برکت نہیں ڈالی جا ئے گی ، وہ اس انسان کی طرح ہو گا جو کھا تا ہے لیکن سیر نہیں ہو تا اور اوپر والا ہا تھ نیچے والے ہا تھ سے بہتر ہے ۔

English Translation

Hakim b. Hizam reported: I begged the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ), and he gave me. I again begged, he again gave me. I again begged, he again gave me, and then said: This property is green and sweet; he who receives it with a cheerful heart is blessed in it, and he who receives it with an avaricious mind would not be blessed in it, he being like one who eats without being satished, and the upper hand is better thad the lower hand.
